Being A Teacher

Here I want to share with my experience in learning to become a teacher moving towards becoming an English teacher.

At the beginning I wasn't really convinced in registering Teaching English and what made me more unconvinced in this major is that all the people I knew tried to show me that this is a boring and silly major. But my opinion has changed through practice and through seeing the importance of education. I have taken a course which was "Practicum", this course was characterized by its practical side. I am really grateful that we had the chance to practice teaching before going to the real world of education and teaching. We have attended classes and observed other teachers and evaluated their methods and techniques in teaching. Also we had the chance to give our own lesson to Grade 6 students and teach them similar to what their teacher gave; this showed us how important is to practice in real life situation and try to be, even for one session, a teacher and experiencing such a thing.

For my good luck, I was able to find a job and I considered it as a way to practice being a teacher and work on my skills and improve them in order to become a better and successful teacher. Honestly speaking, I faced a lot of problems as a beginning teacher and my first year in teaching was the most stressful year in my whole life. I faced problems in time management, classroom management, even I had problems in writing my own exams. But I never gave up, I knew that behind all that struggle and problems there was something better waiting for me, SUCCESS. I've always looked for this term, and up till now I'm still working on myself and developing my skills, techniques and methods of teaching to become a better teacher that students would never forget and a teacher that left a print in their minds.
